California Part 2!

Okay so after the zoo we went to a beach called Leo Carrillo. This is a great place find crabs and star fish...not a great place to wade in the water due to the rocks but we thought Libby would enjoy this beach the most since she LOVES to hunt for critters with daddy. Poor Paisley didn't like it much...within 5 minutes of being there she fell face first into the sand...the saddest part was mommy taking the picture before brushing off the sand...sorry Paisley!

The critter hunting was very successful! Daddy and Libby found crabs galore in the crevises of the rock wall. So creepy but so fun!
Then Mommy found (which I am very proud of) a crevise with a pond in it that had a star fish and a sea cucumber! Very cool! After that we found TONS of star fish all over the place but Mommy found the first one!

We just had a ton of fun!
There will have to be another post of our california trip! The rest of the pictures of our third event are on Thom's computer!
Oh and my mom still has my old prom dress and Thom really wanted to see me in it so I tried it on. It is a little tight but not bad after having 2 kids and 8 years later! Libby had to try the 'princess' dress as she called it on as well!

Long lost Friends reunite

When Thom was in 10th grade in Northern Virginia his best friend was Paul Himle who was in 11th grade. Thom only lived in Northern Virginia for 10 months...now this is almost 15 years ago! They have not seen each other or been in contact since Thom moved so many moons ago. Well somehow Paul found our blog and we all realized we were in the same state! Paul's wife Karlie threw Paul a surprise birthday party this last saturday and she invited us to come to be the big surprise. Which we did and it was so fun. Thom and Paul loved reuniting and catching up while I sure loved getting to know his family especially his super cute wife Karlie. I seem to always make friends with those who aren't close by...frustrating really but we are planning to move closer to them within the next year. Anyway, Paul and Karlie have a 7 year old daughter Abby. She did my hair while I was there...I got pig tails with flowers and leaves with a ton of hairspray...it was super cute! My favorite part was when she put dental floss in my hair so that my hair would smell good! Thanks Paul and Karlie for the fun night and we sooo have to get together again soon!

CALIFORNIA...oh how we miss you...

This last week we got to go to beautiful California for my mother's 50th birthday / family reunion. The reunion part is pretty easy in a family of only 2 siblings, one of which lives in the same city as our parents. Growing up in California I constantly looked forward to leaving California. I never felt like I belonged there. I didn't tan for one thing and just never felt pretty enough for the state that produces the Hollywood perfection that for some reason the rest of the world measures themselves to. But now I would do almost anything to move back there. The weather is wonderful but most of all my parents are there. My mother truly is my best friend and I would so love love love to live down the street from her. But we belong in Utah for now so here we will stay. Maybe someday but if my girls don't tan well which Libby already doesn't...maybe I wouldn't want them to grow up there after all.

Anyway...we had a ton of fun while we were there. My Dad got a whole new mat and springs for the trampoline just for Libby. And she so loved it! Thank you Dad! My parents have become seriously avid bikers. So much though that they spent a ton of money on this sleek blue tandem bike! They took Libby for a good long ride and she loved it. I thought she would be terrified but she wasn't concerned at all and even fell asleep.

We also went to the LA Zoo. Can't go anywhere without going to the zoo! Libby's favorite place on earth! We got to see some new animals which was a lot of fun. Like a Koala, chimps, Hippo, and even thought the Utah Zoo has a tiger you rarely can ever see him so it was fun to actually get to see one so close up and moving around!

okay and do you see that Orangutan? Lindsay...aren't they your favorites? Anyway...I am a nursing mother but even if I could do what she is doing I don't think I would...I suppose maybe if I was really thirsty and no water was around...but still...so weird and somewhat disturbing! Libby also got to pet a huge snake...no idea of it's kind but I wasn't going to touch it. She amazes me every day! She is by far the bravest when she is with her daddy! Well it took me forever to get all these pictures up and it's late so i'll continue the California trip later. It was a blast though!

A Pony Ride

Okay so I know I posted about Libby and ponies already but I am just so proud of her! This last time we went to Wheeler Farm she got to ride this pony without mommy or daddy walking with her. Technically I was supposed to be walking with her but since I had Paisley strapped to my front in the front pack the guy let Libby go by herself and she did soooo great! I love watching her overcome her fears! Good job Libby Lou!

Paisley!

Paisley is sure growing up fast! She is 5 1/2 months old and she can now sit up! She is just so cute and so much fun to have around. She can now roll over too! Libby learned to sit up at 5 months and then just remained sitting for 5 more months! She rolled over once and decided that it just wasn't for her and stopped! So having Paisley roll over already makes me think she is so advanced. I know she is actually just on track but it's fun to think your kid is smart! In the picture Paisley's tongue is sticking out. Well that seems to be her trademark. Her tongue is almost always hanging out. My Aunt was concerned that maybe her tongue was too big for her mouth but I doubt that is the case...I think she just likes to feel the air on her tongue or something!

Libby just loves her little sister. She recently discovered that Paisley fits in her play stroller and she loves to push her around. Paisley is getting a little big for it though so that will probably have to end soon. She is such a little helper too. We recently tried feeding Paisley some classice rice cereal and I don't think I got more than one spoonful in before Liberty insisted on taking over. It seemed to work pretty well. Except for the fact that Paisley didn't seem to really like the cereal. Is it normal to not like rice cereal? Libby loved it! I am slightly concerned that she will be an even pickier eater than Liberty and I don't think I can handle 2 really picky eaters!

Snake!

Okay so another post about Libby's braveness! She and Thom found a snake the other day, but it got away before they could catch it. Today Thom caught the snake and it really made their day! Once again, mommy just took pictures and captured video of her bravery. I so totally did not want to hold the snake, but our brave little princess loved every minute of it and thought nothing of holding a snake!
